    Demetrius Parks, LMSW

    Demetrius (pronouns: he/him) is currently a Licensed Master Social Worker in the state of Maryland. Originally from Buffalo, NY, he received his Master of Social Work, clinical track from the University at Buffalo. Demetrius is currently preparing for his advanced clinical licensure in social work.

    Demetrius has over 2+ years of experience providing individual and group therapy to adult men and women in the Baltimore area. Demetrius has worked with a vast population including those living with mental health disorders, chronic illness, grief, addiction, trauma, family issues, and couples’ issues. Demetrius is also an ally to the LGBTQ+ community and enjoys supporting queer folx in therapy. Demetrius believes representation matters, providing a safe space for people who look him is key, and the therapeutic relationship is driven by collaboration between the therapist and client. Demetrius aims to assist clients with personal growth, identifying the root cause of issues, guided healing from past issues/trauma, and overall betterment of themselves. 

    Demetrius’s current clients would describe him as having their best interest, funny, down to earth, caring, reliable, principled, organized, an advocate, honest, and trustworthy.

    Demetrius’ therapeutic skill set extends to Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Interpersonal Therapy, Family Systems, Client-Centered approach, Strengths-based therapy, and Solution-Focused brief therapy. Demetrius is passionate about human rights issues related to racial injustice, homelessness, and LGBTQ+ issues. Demetrius has an added background in Business so working with people is second nature.

    Demetrius loves culture, music, comedy, writing, pop culture, theatre, dogs, traveling—for enjoyment, new experiences, and education. Demetrius is open-minded, willing to learn from others, and always ready for a challenge.
